SEALED: Ryan Gravenberch, a midfielder for Liverpool, signs a three-year contract with AC Milan after a belated £34 million acquisition.

AC Milan Registers Interest in Ryan Gravenberch.

In 2022, Ryan Gravenberch joined Bayern Munich from Ajax, defeating Liverpool to secure the services of the youthful Dutch midfield player. However, the Reds returned to the Bundesliga after two dismal seasons, and they eventually acquired Gravenberch. However, in 2022, they weren’t the only major club vying for his services; rumors circulated in Italy suggesting AC Milan was also interested in him. Naturally, following a mediocre first season at Anfield, the Italian rumor mill is now wondering if it would be their chance to finally land Gravenberch.

Milan hasn’t completely forgotten their interest in a player that Liverpool’s recruitment squad reportedly thought was on par with fellow young midfielders Aurélien Tchouaméni and Jude Bellingham for 2022, according to the rarely trustworthy CalcioMercato. They are even reported to have gotten in touch with Gravenberch’s agents at Raiola, but maybe less with the intention of actively pursuing a deal this summer and more to make sure they’ll have set the stage for a move should the player become available.

Regarding Liverpool’s involvement in all of this, there hasn’t been any discussion about Gravenberch because the team and player have both stated that they plan to keep the 22-year-old on Merseyside for a second season under new manager Arne Slot. While there was much excellent in Gravenberch’s first year at Liverpool, it’s definitely fair to say the player didn’t make a major jump forward last season. Still, it’s important to remember how young—and talented—he is. Gravenberch didn’t reach the heights many had anticipated during his two years in Germany.

as Gravenberch is said to rate well and we paid £34 million last summer, it’s hard to conceive that any team would want to let him go this summer, especially as he appears dedicated to staying on Merseyside for another season. However, development isn’t always linear.
