There is still some uncertainty around Trevor Lawrence’s contract status when the Jacksonville Jaguars obligatory minicamp gets begin.

The former first overall pick in the NFL Draft is eligible for an extension, but as of this offseason, the two parties have not reached a mutual understanding or seem to be very near to concluding anything significant.

Lawrence seems unconcerned, though. In Jacksonville, Lawrence told reporters, “I have complete faith that that will take care of itself and that’s not something I need to worry about.”

“I pay people and hire people to do that for me because of this.” That is not my responsibility. Of course, I am aware of what is happening.

I try to focus all of my attention and energy on being the greatest player I can be to help us win, even if I am aware of the circumstances and think they are essential as well.

Lawrence’s contract appears to be in the range of the megadeals that players like Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, and Tua Tagovailoa signed in the last few years and the ones that Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff agreed to this summer. Last month, Goff and the Lions reached a $212 million, four-year agreement.

After three seasons, Lawrence has completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 11,770 yards with 58 touchdowns to 39 interceptions, leading the Jaguars to one postseason berth and playoff victory.

Goff Lawrence hopes that these discussions, wherever they end up, won’t cast a shadow on training camp in July or the start of the 2024 season in September.

“Yes, I believe that would be perfect, to move on and feel good about that heading into training camp,” he replied. In any case, as I’ve already stated, I work at the same place.

Therefore, even though I can’t always control every single one of those variables, my work remains the same. Of course, though, it would be best to finish it as soon as possible and move on.
