49ers extend $38 million for two years with running back Christian McCaffrey – SportzBonanza

It’s common knowledge that the San Francisco 49ers prioritize running backs over teams in the league. That they are offering their star player, Christian McCaffrey, a new, hefty contract is therefore not shocking.

The 49ers revealed that McCaffrey had signed an extension, but they withheld the specifics of the deal. According to claims from league insiders, the $38 million contract has a two-year term. By doing this, McCaffrey will always be the NFL’s highest-paid running back.

The average yearly compensation of McCaffrey’s new contract is $19 million, while the second-highest running back in the league, Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints, makes $15 million.

Thanks to a four-year, $64 million agreement he signed in 2020 while playing for the Carolina Panthers, McCaffrey was already the highest paid back. Following a fantastic year in his first full season with the 49ers in 2023, McCaffrey signed a new agreement.

In addition to adding 67 catches for 564 yards and seven receiving touchdowns, he concluded the regular season with 1,459 yards and 14 touchdowns on the run.

McCaffrey contributed to the 49ers’ postseason success and their trip to Super Bowl LVIII.

He caught 19 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown, in addition to his 268 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
