Prior to training camp, the Pittsburgh Steelers are expanding their wide receiver pool.
The team is re-signing second-year player Jacob Copeland to a one-year contract, per NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
Copeland was a member of Pittsburgh’s practice squad for a portion of 2023.
The official amount of that deal is $795,000.
Based on that quantity, it seems likely that the organization won’t be counting on the previously undrafted wide receiver to make it past training camp and onto the starting lineup.
From the year 2023, when Copeland joined the league as a Maryland native, he has been traveling.
He participated in practice squads with the Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings in 2023 in addition to the Steelers.
He has played on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad thus far in 2024, and he is currently back in Pittsburgh.
Despite having only played in a few NFL games in his brief career, Copeland is undoubtedly hoping to change the course of events while he is with the Steelers.
He attended Florida for the first four years of his college career before moving to Maryland in 2023.
