Insider Reports: In Defence of Lakers’ Front Office against ‘Free Agency Failure’ Criticism

Rachel Nichols Defends Lakers’ Front Office Amid Criticism

Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers were expecting great changes in the offseason and wanted general manager Rob Pelinka to shake things up.

That hasn’t happened so some followers are dreading the new season.

But Rachel Nichols said she isn’t ready to “fry” the Lakers front office.

On the latest episode of “Undisputed,” Nichols said that things haven’t worked out for the Lakers in the offseason but not all hope is lost.

She admitted that they didn’t obtain Klay Thompson, DeMar DeRozan, and other free agents but there is still time for them to get better.

Nichols urged fans to hold onto hope and see what Pelinka can do during the rest of the summer and before February’s trade deadline.

Nichols also stated that people should give new head coach JJ Redick some patience before they hang their heads low.

Perhaps he can get the team in much better shape and maybe the roster remains healthy in 2024-25.

And then maybe Pelinka will create some roster changes before the trade deadline in February.

Just because the Lakers have had a quiet offseason doesn’t mean they aren’t planning something in the future.

The problem is that Los Angeles only has so much time with LeBron James before he retires.

Fans want to see at least one more championship under his belt before he hangs up his jersey so the ticking clock feels louder and louder every season.

That is why they wished to witness big ideas from the front office and substantial roster changes.

Instead, they haven’t witnessed anything, at least not yet.

Is it time to “fry” Pelinka and his staff or should fans remain optimistic?
