Parramatta Eels have confirmed their 2025 coach a few hours ago.

The coach of the Parramatta Eels for the 2025 NRL season and beyond has been formally confirmed, ending months of speculation.

Jason Ryles will take over as the Eels’ next head coach, the team has confirmed. In the competition for the top coaching position, Ryles defeated interim coach Trent Barrett, former coach Brian Smith, assistant Josh Hannay of the Sharks, and assistant Dean Young of the Dragons.

Barrett will step down as coach after the upcoming season, and Ryles has agreed to a four-year contract that would keep him in that role until 2028.

“I am incredibly honoured to be appointed Head Coach of the Parramatta Eels,” Jason Ryles stated.

“This club has a fervent fan base and a long history. I’m excited to mentor these young men.”

Ryles started his coaching career in 2014 after having a stellar playing career in which he played for the NSW Blues and Australian Kangaroos. Since then, he has been considered as a potential NRL coach.

After stints as an assistant coach at the Sydney Roosters, Melbourne Storm (where he won two premierships and four Grand Final appearances), and the England rugby union side, he will join the Eels.
