Jason Ryles is anticipated to depart the Storm early as criticism of Parramatta’s coaching staff grows.

Prior to moving to Parramatta for the upcoming season, Jason Ryles may be given an early release from his contract with the Storm.

Michael Chammas, a reporter for 9News and The Sydney Morning Herald, reports that the 45-year-old will meet with representatives to talk about his immediate future at Melbourne following the State of Origin decision.

Although Ryles was hired on as an assistant until the end of the year, he may be permitted to depart sooner than anticipated in order to concentrate on his next position.

“The Storm and Ryles are willing to talk at the meeting that is scheduled for later this week. They will split up after Origin so that Ryles may begin organizing his coaching staff and roster for 2025.

“It will give him oversight, get his feet under the desk and begin planning.”

Convincing young gun Blaize Talagi to commit long-term to the blue and gold will be among Ryles’ first priorities.

Following an outstanding debut season, Talagi is still unsigned at Parramatta and has drawn interest from the Dragons, Dolphins, and Knights.

Melbourne’s hopes of winning a premiership are unlikely to be dashed by Ryles’s early departure because Craig Bellamy has an abundance of other assistants.

For the remainder of this season, Trent Barrett will serve as the Eels’ interim head coach.
