REVEALED: Paul Gallen explains his animosity toward a former NRL teammate.

Paul Gallen explains his animosity toward a former NRL teammate.

The public now knows why Paul Gallen harbors animosity for his former Sharks teammate Chad Townsend.

After the Cowboys playmaker signed a contract with the Roosters ahead of the upcoming season, Gallen, 42, who won an NRL premiership with the halfback in 2016, called him a “surprise signing.” He added on Nine’s 100% Footy, “You have arguments with guys over time and that’s just part and parcel of life.”You don’t always agree with people on everything, and a few years ago, Chad and I got into a little dispute. “What happened happens, but we haven’t talked much since.” It happens after the former football enforcer who is now a prizefight boxer made headlines when he said on 2GB Radio that the two “don’t get on.” “Don’t get along, even though we won a premiership together.” On June 6, Gallen told listeners, “I take my hat off to the career he’s had; he’s squeezed every bit of ability out of himself.” He will now have another season with the Roosters. I think it’s an unexpected signing.

Talking on Triple M’s The Rush Hour with AB & Elliott, Townsend said he had no animosity toward the other party. To be honest, there’s nothing in it, he declared. “I’ve talked to Gal about it; we’ve cleared the air.” There is nothing more to it than that we get along. The Bulldogs and Super League team Catalans Dragons were interested in Townsend, but the Tricolours lured him in with a reputed $300,000 one-season deal. It is anticipated that he would serve as a mentor to young players Sandon Smith and Sam Walker.

It’s known that Townsend’s desire to work in the media after retiring from professional sports played a significant role in his decision to move back to Sydney from North Queensland.
