LeBron James, Stephen Curry and More Celebrate 2024 Paris Olympics With Team USA in Ralph Lauren During Opening Ceremony
Team USA made their grand entrance at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday. Led by flag bearers Coco Gauff and LeBron James, the U.S. delegation celebrated the start of the game in Ralph Lauren outfits.
Ralph Lauren created uniforms for both the Olympic and Paralympic athletes, repeating a longtime partnership with Team USA that started in 2008. The athletes wore a classic Ralph Lauren navy wool blazer with red and white accents, a striped oxford shirt, a navy knit tie, tapered light denim jeans and suede shoes. Gauff and James donned a different version of the outfit featuring off-white blazers.
While this is James’ fourth Olympic Games, Gauff, at 20 years old, became the first tennis player and the youngest athlete ever to carry the USA flag at an Olympic opening ceremony.
Team USA members are expected to wear a different Ralph Lauren uniform during the closing ceremony, consisting of a sporty moto-style jacket with USA patch detailing, a classic striped polo shirt and white denim jeans.
The opening ceremony took place along the river Seine with a live performance by Lady Gaga. Princess Charlene of Monaco, Serena Williams, U.S. First Lady Jill Biden, Chrissy Teigen, Nina Dobrev and Ariana Grande are some of the celebrities in attendance. The ceremony will feature the traditional parade of athletes from 206 national Olympic committees traveling on nearly 100 boats. The parade will pass by famous Parisian landmarks such as Notre Dame, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.
The 2024 Paris Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, will take place through Aug. 11. This edition marks the centenary of the last time Paris hosted the Games in 1924.
