Jerry Jones Admits There Has Been No “Legitimate Progress” in Star Wars Contract Talks

Given that quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and pass rusher Micah Parsons are all pursuing contract extensions, the current Dallas Cowboys roster may be entering its final season intact.

, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and pass rusher Micah Parsons are all pursuing contract extensions, the current Dallas Cowboys roster may be entering its final season intact.

The Cowboys may argue that these three are their finest and most valuable players, therefore losing any one of them would severely hurt their chances of winning the Super Bowl in the future.

According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, controversial Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stated that there has not been any significant advancement in the extension negotiations with Lamb or Prescott.

“I think we are having a conversation. Regarding Prescott, I would not have a valid progress point there at all,” Jones remarked. Furthermore, I honestly do not have it for Lamb. It is also not bad. I am only thinking that discussing progress would not be beneficial.

There may be merit to the belief held by Cowboys supporters that Lamb is the best wide receiver in the NFL at the moment.

He was second in the league with 1,749 receiving yards and 14 total touchdowns last season, leading the league in receptions. He was selected to the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro First Team.

Prescott, on the other hand, finished the regular season as the league leader with 410 completions, 36 touchdown passes, and 4,516 passing yards. He briefly emerged as a top MVP contender.

There has been a lot of conjecture suggesting that Prescott might not get an extension and will instead have to finish the last year of his contract before becoming a free agent in 2025.

In that case, 2024 might be his last season in Dallas.

The Cowboys desperately need good news and good fortune after their highly promising 2023 season came to an abrupt end when the Green Bay Packers destroyed them in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

But for now, there is a dark cloud hanging over the franchise, and it could turn into a storm not too long from now
