One of the teams that might be under the greatest pressure to win big in 2024 is the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas has won 12 games in the regular season for the previous three years running, but they have not advanced past the divisional round of the playoffs.

If the team makes one more early postseason departure, Mike McCarthy might find himself under fire. Dallas may not have every weapon on the field the first week, even though they are searching for as many choices as they can to make their offensive competitive.

Royce Freeman, a 28-year-old running back, with six years of experience. As he becomes more familiar with the scheme, many see Freeman assuming the No. 2 position in the backfield. It is also feasible, though, that he will not make the 53-man roster. According to USA Today’s Cowboys Wire, Freeman is thoroughly outmatched.

Cowboys Wire projects that the Cowboys will keep four backs on their 53-man roster after training camp. The two most obvious are Elliott and Dowdle, with fullback Hunter Luepke also included. But Vaughn, the well-liked 2023 preseason standout, is the fourth back and may receive more attention due to his skill as a kick returner.

It would be shocking if the Cowboys cut Freeman, who was signed in April, even if it is evident that they do not place a great value on running backs this season.

One of the most interesting positions on the 2024 Cowboys squad will be running back. The offense’s identity will be aided by establishing the bell cow as soon as possible.
