GOOD TO WORSE: A different gifted star at Eels requests permission to quit.

Eels reply as one after another requests authorization to depart.

With forward Charlie Guymer asking to leave the Parramatta Eels, things are only getting worse for the team. The young forward, if he is allowed to leave, would join Matt Arthur, who hasn’t found a new team, Ethan Sanders, who is heading to the Canberra Raiders next season, and Blaize Talagi, who is probably going to sign with the Panthers, in what is quickly turning into a disaster for the Eels.

Guymer, who is regarded as one of the best young forwards in the game, just agreed to an improved contract with the Eels earlier this year, one that would keep him under contract until at least the end of the 2026 NRL season. After that, he would be placed on the development list for the following year and move up to the Top 30.

In his debut season as a member of the Top 30, he would have made $140,000, while a development player would have made $80,000. Guymer had requested a release from the club through his management, according to a report from News Corp. on Thursday. However, the club has now swiftly replied, stating that Guymer will remain until the end of 2026.

“Last week, his management asked the Club for permission to hold talks with other Clubs. Charlie’s future is very important to the Club, and this request was turned down,” the club stated in a letter.

Charlie has been in direct touch with the Club on a regular basis, including this afternoon, and he has reassured us that his commitment to the Parramatta Eels remains unwavering. CEO Jim Sarantino expressed disappointment at how the injured forward’s situation had been handled in public. Sarantino expressed her disappointment, saying, “It’s unfortunate that Charlie has been drawn into this publicly, especially as he is recovering after surgery on Monday.”

“We spoke with him this afternoon, and he reaffirmed his excitement about being a part of the Club’s future and his commitment to the Club.” A forward with great promise, Guymer reportedly requested his release after his NRL debut, according to the first source, which stated that up to six clubs had gotten in touch with his manager Anthony Field. After Guymer made his NRL debut, Field said that six clubs contacted him, with previous coach Brad Arthur being the one who had persuaded him to re-sign.

Field told the newspaper, “Brad Arthur was the one who persuaded him to sign for two more years.” “Brad sold him the idea, but it has since evolved. Jason Ryles isn’t the focus of this because their meeting went well. Guymer is reportedly furious about Sanders, Talagi, and Matt Arthur leaving.

The most recent information is probably going to make Parramatta’s decision to fire the former coach even more concerning. Due to his father’s abuse at the hands of the club, his son was released on compassionate grounds; however, Zac Lomax, the team’s star recruit for the next season, was knocked back because he wanted a condition related to Arthur in his contract.
