Major Round 22 Talking Points: Broncos’ Attitude Under Fire After Dramatic Fall from Grace

What’s to blame for Broncos disaster

An attitude problem may be behind the Broncos’ stunning fall from grace after last year’s grand finalists handed in a diabolic second half in a shock loss to the Titans.

He remains unsigned beyond 2025, but the Roosters would be smart to lock half Sam Walker down long-term following his masterclass against the Dolphins.

Meanwhile, Dragons coach Shane Flanagan has fired a warning shot to the rest of the NRL with a bold declaration.

Here are the biggest talking points to come out of Round 22.

BLOWTORCH PUT ON BRONCOS’ ATTITUDE AFTER ALL FROM GRACE

The Broncos’ season is all but over following a shock 46-18 loss to the Titans, leaving coach Kevin Walters searching for answers as the pressure continues to mount.

But retired NRL great Will Chambers might have the answer — an attitude problem.

The Broncos were tipped for big things after going within a whisker of a premiership last season. Sure, they lost Herbie Farnworth and Tom Flegler to the Dolphins and also had to contend with Adam Reynolds’ long-term biceps injury. But the roster still boasts the likes of Reece Walsh, Ezra Mam, Pat Carrigan and Payne Haas.

Now, they face an in-depth post-mortem to decipher what went wrong with Walters conceding after Saturday’s loss “we’ve got more issues than making the eight.”

They’ve now lost eight of their last nine games prompting Chambers to declare the Broncos’ attitude may be to blame.

“Obviously it’s disappointing for the club … Brisbane are at the bottom and used to be the big brother to everyone (in Queensland) and I’m not sure where they go from here,” he said.

“But there’s got to be a bit of an attitude problem up there at the moment. You can’t go in at half time, be in front, and then just fall away.

“I know they had some injuries, but they also had some star players out there and everyone was going on all year they had no Adam Reynolds. Well, Adam Reynolds was there today.

“They had Pat Carrigan and they had Reece Walsh so there’s no reason for them to fall down in a game the way they did but obviously there’s something not right there.

“Whether it’s an attitude thing, whether it’s fitness, who knows but something needs to change and change drastically because their season’s over now and they can start planning their trip away.”
