A change has been made to the Dallas Cowboys’ roster in advance of their first preseason game.
The Dallas Cowboys are in Oxnard, California for training camp, where they are preparing for the 2024 campaign.
The Cowboys have had a busy offseason, but not all of the news have been positive ones. The franchise has been hanging over the possible contract extensions of Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons, and CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys made a transaction just before their preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams, despite the fact that they are currently preoccupied with contract issues.
The Cowboys sent corner Andrew Booth Jr. to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for corner Nahshon Wright, according to Ian Rapoport.
Since his selection in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Wright has been a member of the Cowboys. The Oregon State graduate is a lanky and athletic defensive end. Over the previous three seasons, Wright made three starts but was primarily a backup.
In his Dallas career, he finished with 37 total tackles, five pass deflections, and one interception.
Regarding Booth Jr., the Vikings selected him in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Despite not being able to play at the NFL level, the Clemson graduate possesses the skills necessary to be a successful defender. Being a rangy playmaker with flexible hips, Booth Jr. can shift directions in coverage fast.
The 23-year-old has made 20 total tackles, one pass breakup, and zero interceptions in his first two seasons in Minnesota.
Even though he has not performed well in the NFL throughout his brief tenure, Dallas obviously appreciates his qualities and thinks they can get the most out of him.
Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland have benefited from defensive back coach Al Harris’ guidance. He will now get Booth Jr.’s opportunity.
