The 2024 NFL Preseason has finally arrived, ladies and gentlemen, and, dare I say it, Dallas Cowboys football is playing today!
It is game day for the Dallas Cowboys. My barbecue pit has been waiting for me to get it ready for the big day for about sixty days now that I have moved into my new home.
My family and I have a tradition of attending Cowboys games. Food (preferably barbecued) and drinks are essential. Football, food, alcohol, and family. Everything fits together perfectly.
All seven of the Cowboys’ draft selections from the 2024 NFL Draft will be used before the evening is through, assuming there are no pre-game complications that might compromise their availability.
I always like seeing players that were linked to the Cowboys during the draft process and how they are doing with the club that drafted them when I watch highlights of teams around the league that have already played.
Throughout the draft process, everyone of us had our pet cats, and it always hurts a little bit when their names are shouted at the podium by other teams, particularly rival teams like the Philadelphia Eagles.
Considering that Michael Gallup was a different player before retiring and that Tony Pollard left for Tennessee in free agency, running backs and wide receivers were a couple of my favorite pet cats from the draft process.
The Cowboys did not address running back until much later in the draft (Ryan Flournoy, sixth round), and they needed some juice at both positions.
Several teams used players who had previously been connected to the Cowboys to fill those two spots. Let us examine some of their preseason performance thus far.
