Breaking: Seahawks Signed Veteran Offensive Lineman from the Dolphins

Seahawks Sign C Connor Williams, Trade C Nick Harris To The Browns

The Seahawks signed veteran offensive lineman Connor Williams on Sunday, and traded Nick Harris to the Browns.

The Seahawks added an accomplished and experienced interior offensive lineman to their roster on Sunday, signing former Cowboys and Dolphins starter Connor Williams.

Seattle also traded center Nick Harris to the Browns.

Williams has played left guard and center during his career, but Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said they’re bringing Williams in as a center.

Williams, 27, spent the past two seasons as Miami’s starting center, but his 2023 season was cut short by a torn ACL in December.

Prior to joining the Dolphins, Williams, a second-round pick out of Texas in 2017, spent his first four seasons with Dallas as a left guard, starting 51 games.

In the nine games he played last season, Williams earned an 86.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, making him the second-highest graded center in the league behind Detroit’s Frank Ragnow.

The Seahawks have had a competition at center between 2023 fifth-round pick Olu Oluwatimi and Harris, a free-agent signing this offseason.

“It’s open,” Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said last week prior to the addition of Williams. “Nick has done a nice job; he’s pushing Olu. The young pups are doing a good job too. Jalen’s (Sundell) doing a good job. It’s open.”

Harris started Seattle’s preseason opener against the Chargers with Oluwatimi taking over in the second quarter.

“That was just the plan going into the game, but they’re battling it out right now,” Macdonald said.

However, Harris’ time with the Seahawks after being acquired during free agency from the Browns was brief, as he now returns to Cleveland.
