JUST NOW: Jason Ryles has Formally made his first player contract move by re-signing a Superb playmaker.

Simonsson’s tenure at Eels is extended by Ryles’ first signing.

As Parramatta’s new NRL coach, Jason Ryles has made his first player contract move, re-signing winger Bailey Simonsson to a three-year contract. When Simonsson’s contract expired at the end of this year, he was left with no certainty as the Eels considered their choices for the 2025 squad. However, after meeting with Ryles, he received a contract offer, making him the club’s first re-signing since Ryles departed Melbourne last month to start getting ready for 2025.

Simonsson declared, “I adore this club and everyone who is a part of it.” “I feel at home here, so it was an easy decision for me to stay and work towards where I want to be and where the club deserves to be.”I want to thank the club for supporting me during my injury and I look forward to rewarding them and our supporters with my performances over the next three years.” Four more Parramatta players are not under contract for the upcoming campaign.

Playmaker Morgan Harper is also without a contract for the upcoming season, and playmaker Daejarn Asi has expressed uncertainty about his future. Parramatta needs to decide what to do with forwards Ofahiki Ogden and Makahesi Makatoa, who are not under contract. Zac Cini and Ky Rodwell, first-graders at Fringe, departed the team mid-season to move to England.

Zac Lomax, who was signed by the Eels earlier in the season on a big-money deal from St George Illawarra, is a young player who is leaving to sign with Penrith for the upcoming three seasons. Charlie Guymer and other emerging talent from Parramatta’s SG Ball squad need to make room in their top 30. Ryles has a busy year ahead of him in terms of the roster, as only four players are formally committed for 2026 and beyond thanks to Simonsson’s contract.
