During today’s practice, Donovan Wilson and Brandin Cooks both went to the injured tent. Shortly after, Cooks left practice due to knee pain and went to the locker room. Although it is not regarded as serious at this time, it will be something to keep an eye on in the future. Wilson banged knees with DaRon Bland and was assessed; however, he quickly returned to the field. – (Nick Harris)
The competition at wide receiver for WR3 and beyond is fierce and intense, as it has been for the whole training camp this year. Kelvin Harmon is adding even more fuel to the fire. Arriving at the Cowboys before the halfway stage of training, he is since flashed in
both in the first session of the preseason and in subsequent practices. Right now, Harmon is a player to keep an eye on when the Cowboys play the Raiders on Saturday. – (Walter Patrick)
During practice on Thursday, Trey Lance appeared more at ease as he was able to use his athleticism to prolong plays and work off-script with receivers Tyron Billy-Johnson and KaVontae Turpin. It was a successful day for the North Dakota State football team, but two aspects of his game that will be important to observe throughout the preseason are composure and decisiveness.

Before Trevon Diggs, Jourdan Lewis was perhaps the Cowboys’ finest defender. He appears to be in peak condition once again. He was flying all over the field during practice on Thursday to make pass breakups, and after each one, he would report it to the quarterback and receiver. With more time under his belt and no longer dwelling on a career-threatening foot ailment, this is the Lewis that started to resurface toward the conclusion of the 2023 campaign. – (Patrik Walker)
For the first time in a long time, the entire running back room is healthy.
During move-the-ball drills over the past few weeks, each player in the position group received reps with the first team. According to Mike McCarthy, Royce Freeman and Deuce Vaughn will likely play more in this Saturday’s game against the Raiders as the front office continues to assess the situation with the rushing game. – (Nick Harris)
Returning to the WRs competition, it is highly unlikely that Dak Prescott will not view Jalen Tolbert as a high-value target moving forward. This year’s training camp has shown an incredible chemistry, timing, and trust between the two, which is undoubtedly the result of all the offseason work they have done together over the previous two offseasons.
With record-setting defensive back DaRon Bland in his back pocket, Prescott was rewarded with a stunning over-the-shoulder catch that looked simple when he dropped back in Thursday’s 7-on-7 game and delivered a deep ball down the right side that only Tolbert could reach. – (Patrik Walker)
After being out for a few days following the birth of his kid, Brandon Aubrey made his way back to practice on Thursday. Following Sunday’s game against the Rams, the kicker hurriedly departed the field to get a flight back to Dallas.
Aubrey made four field goals during the contest to account for all 12 of the points. Given that he is the only play-kicker on the roster, it is believed that he will play against the Raiders on Saturday. – (Nick Eatman)
Since Brock Hoffman had the majority of the first-team reps on Thursday, the competition for centers continues. In Wednesday’s scrimmage against the Rams, rookie Cooper Beebe played the majority of the snaps with the starting lineup. The preseason game was begun by Hoffman on Sunday, but Beebe might get the first look on Saturday in Las Vegas.
