Jason Ryles, the head of Parra’s new coaching staff, revealed.
The Parramatta club has confirmed their assistant coaches for the next season, marking the first major move taken by new coach Jason Ryles. Nathan Brown, who served as the club’s elite pathways coaching director in 2022, is the most notable appointment. In 2025, Brown will be joined by Scott Wisemantel, Nathan Cayless, and Sam Moa, meaning Trent Barrett, the club’s current interim coach, won’t be there.
In addition to coaching Ryles at the Red V, Brown also played a few games with him for the Dragons. While Wisemantel may be unfamiliar to some, he is a junior Eels player who previously served as the attack coach for the Australian and English rugby union teams, Brown has a wealth of coaching expertise both in the NRL and internationally.
Fans will recall Moa from his days as a prop with the Roosters, while Cayless, a club veteran, will continue as the NSW Cup coach for the upcoming season. He worked for Catalans in the Super League for three years as a defence coach.
“We are excited to welcome the new coaching staff in November,” Eels Chief Executive Jim Sarantinos stated. “Our incoming head coach Jason Ryles has assembled a team of assistants that he feels will help him bring the best out of the playing group.” The present coaching and performance staff members who will be leaving our club at the end of this season are also appreciated, on behalf of the board and management.

The Eels are fighting to avoid the wooden spoon this season and will be losing a number of players to graduation next year, so the new coaching staff has a huge challenge ahead of them.
