Boston Scott’s NFL Journey Takes a Wild Turn: Released by Rams, Signed by Steelers in the Same Day
In the 2018 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints selected running back Boston Scott out of Louisiana Tech in the sixth round. Although the Saints eventually released him, the Philadelphia Eagles quickly added Scott to their roster. Over the past six seasons with the Eagles, Scott became a valuable asset, contributing both as a runner and a receiver out of the backfield.
Additionally, he took on duties as a punt returner. His most productive season came in 2021 when he tallied 373 rushing yards and scored seven touchdowns. Known for his versatility, Scott’s impact on the field was evident. However, his production significantly declined last season, with less than 200 total yards in 15 games.
This past offseason, Scott signed with the Los Angeles Rams, but his tenure was short-lived. On Tuesday, the Rams released him as they trimmed their roster down to the final 53 players. Despite this setback, Scott’s journey continues as the Pittsburgh Steelers quickly signed him to their practice squad just hours after his release.
With running back Jaylen Warren dealing with an injury, Scott may be called upon to step in if needed this season. As the dust settles from the roster cuts, the focus shifts to Week 1, where the Eagles are set to face the Green Bay Packers in the historic first NFL game to be played in Brazil.
