Breaking: The Cowboys have signed running back Dalvin Cook, a four-time Pro Bowl player.

Dallas Cowboys signed four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook on Tuesday, taking a major step towards strengthening their running game one day after reviving their passing game with the signing of All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb. Cook, 29, had an official workout at The Star in Frisco on Tuesday, and according to NFL Network, he will sign a contract and start the season on the Cowboys’ practice squad until he’s in game shape and ready to contribute.

Cook was a standout player for the Minnesota Vikings from 2019 to 20. He ran for 1,100 yards four times in a row and 29 touchdowns overall. But it appeared that age and injuries had caught up to him, as he only got a total of 67 carries in his two stints with the Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets last season.

Joining him will be a “running back by committee,” as head coach Mike McCarthy puts it, with Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott at the helm.

In the spring, Cook told NFL Network, “The ‘washed’ talk is going to come when you don’t produce.” “All I want to do is go prove to people that I can create an electric backfield.” I still have time to adjust the scoreboard.”
