Tyler Reddick finished in the top ten of the Southern 500 to win the NASCAR Cup Series regular season championship.

To be able to stay in the automobile long enough to finish it, he also had to get over a terrible bout of diarrhea.

Reddick informed crew chief Billy Scott that he was “throwing up and shitting myself” behind the wheel early in the race by activating his in-car radio.

What was even more amazing was that at the time, he was vying for the lead and ranked in the top-5.

Reddick was competing against Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott for the regular season title and the associated playoff seeding, so it was crucial that he stay in the vehicle and make the most of the day.

During a pit break, the team attempted to feed him Tums through the window net, but they landed under his seat. At the next break, they gave him a bottle of water that had been mixed with Imodium and Tums.

He felt a little comforted about it, and he went on to place tenth and win the regular season.

That’s the lowest I’ve ever been. I’m not sure, maybe just a stomach ailment or something,” Reddick remarked. “Last week in Daytona, my son was having some emotional problems.

After the race, we had to take him to the infield care center. It was Saturday, race day, and he was having a lot of trouble.

Yes, it seems like I started having a lot of trouble around noon on Friday.

I was hoped it would disappear by Saturday morning. On Saturday, it was awful. Sunday morning I awoke with the same optimism that it would vanish once more.felt excellent almost the entire time leading up to the marathon.

It might have been the bump off of two or something, I’m not sure. By the end of the first stage, things had become really, really terrible.

It remained there for the remainder of the journey.

I’m just incredibly appreciative of all the wonderful people on our team.

In order to give me the best chance of managing it, they were giving me the appropriate food in the car. Simply intelligent individuals.

able to add the proper ingredients to my drink to ease my upset stomach.

I had moments when I wanted to throw up all over myself. Thank goodness, they prevented that from occurring. a ton of other disgusting things.

Reddick was undoubtedly ill, but thankfully not as much as he had suggested in real time.

“As soon as the yellow came out at the end of stage one, I really thought I was going to throw up,” Reddick remarked. What then comes out the other end? All night, I clung to it for dear life.

I had anticipated it happening, but… Reddick stated. It was so horrible that all I really wanted to do was get it out.

At the infield care facility earlier, I took some Imodium. The worst part for me was that I was unable to express what I wanted to. It was just a difficult evening.

However, it did conclude with winning the regular season title and securing the third seed in the postseason. Reddick remarked, “It’s just a testament to all the hard work that everyone at 23XI, here at the racetrack, back at Airspeed, puts into this.”

“I believe we are at year four of their goals. The past two years have been incredibly enjoyable as we’ve worked to get to where we want to be as a team.

We’ve made it through the summer stretch, and it takes a lot of work to be consistent. It seems like we got off to a rough start in both years.

Being able to reflect on points and reach our mid-year position is a pleasant feeling.

It really helped us, in my opinion, to just keep becoming more reliable, to put ourselves in the proper frame of mind for the Playoffs, and to simply balance risk and reward. Here soon, we’ll be performing it three races at once.
