To Encourage Election Trust and Volunteerism, NASCAR Driver Garrett Smithley and Vet the Vote Collaborate

At Atlanta Motor Speedway, NASCAR driver Garrett Smithley and the Vet the Vote Coalition are teaming up with Alpha Prime Racing to promote voting, volunteerism, and support for those who already vote.

By way of Smithley’s sponsorship of the #45 Chevrolet and Vet the Vote, NASCAR fans will be made aware that a sizable portion of the volunteers staffing voting places this fall will be veterans and family members of those who served in the armed forces.

The Vet the Vote Coalition has so far gathered more than 140,000 election poll workers from the veteran and military family community for the 2024 election.

Experts estimate that America needs more than 875,000 election poll workers to ensure citizens can vote in all 50 states and territories this fall.

“Our American system of self government is driven by elections, and elections are driven by volunteers,” stated Ellen Gustafson, co-founder of Vet the Vote.

“We are very proud of the efforts of the Vet the Vote team and our 38 coalition partners, and we are exceptionally fired up about partnering with NASCAR’s Garrett Smithley.”

Smithley responded, “My grandfathers are both veterans, so this one is really special to me,” when asked about his involvement.

“And NASCAR fans are so patriotic – it feels like we’re a sport that really stands behind veterans and tries to recognize them as much as possible.”

Vet the Vote is a cause that I’m proud to support. Smithley recently signed a multi-race deal with Alpha Prime Racing, making his racing debut at Indianapolis earlier this season.

The former NASCAR Cup Series driver will work with family volunteers and veterans to spread the word through social media, podcasts, in-person events at NASCAR races, and interviews with local press.

This weekend, on Saturday, September 7th at 3 PM ET on USA Network, voters can see Smithley piloting Vet the Vote #45 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
