BREAKING: Ex-Suns Point Guard Joins Fierce Rivals, Showcasing the absence of Loyalty In the Game

Jordan Goodwin’s Grit Earns Him Shot with Lakers: Could He Be the Key to Their Championship Push?

Jordan Goodwin, a tenacious point guard known for his relentless work ethic, is set to make his mark with the Los Angeles Lakers as he joins their upcoming training camp. Goodwin’s NBA journey has been one of perseverance, having played for the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies during the 2023-24 season, as reported by NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Starting the season with the Suns, Goodwin appeared in 40 games before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets midway through the season. Despite being quickly released by Brooklyn, his opportunity came when the Memphis Grizzlies signed him to a 10-day contract. Impressed by his performance, the Grizzlies upgraded his deal to a two-way contract.

During his 17 games with Memphis, Goodwin made the most of his time, averaging career-highs of 10.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. His standout performance came against the Lakers, where he posted an impressive 23 points and 17 rebounds, showcasing his ability to impact the game on multiple fronts.

Now, as Goodwin joins the Lakers under first-year head coach JJ Redick, the team is entering a new era. Redick replaces Darvin Ham, who led the Lakers to a 47-35 record the previous season. Goodwin’s toughness and rebounding prowess, especially for his 6’4″ frame, could provide much-needed depth to the Lakers’ backcourt as they pursue another championship.

If Goodwin can replicate his high-energy performances and continue to be a force on the boards, he could earn a permanent spot on the Lakers’ roster for the 2024-25 season, adding versatility to a title-contending team.
