Fijian Rugby Icon Osea Kolinisau Inducted Into RugbyTown Walk of Fame After Historic Olympic Gold and World Series Triumphs

Former Fiji national rugby player and current Fiji Sevens coach, Osea Kolinisau, has been honored by the Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament with an induction into the prestigious RugbyTown Walk of Fame.

Kolinisau’s induction recognizes his exceptional contributions to rugby, particularly in the sevens format, where he has left an indelible mark both as a player and leader.

Recently re-appointed for another four-year term by the Fiji Rugby Union to coach the Men’s National 7s team, Kolinisau has been a significant figure in Fijian rugby history. His leadership and on-field prowess are well-known, most notably for captaining Fiji to their first-ever Olympic gold medal in rugby sevens at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

This victory was a defining moment not only for Fiji but for the sport, as Kolinisau and his team demonstrated the unmatched skill and spirit of Fijian rugby.

In addition to the Olympic triumph, Kolinisau also led Fiji to consecutive HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series titles, further cementing his legacy as one of the sport’s greatest ambassadors.

His induction into the RugbyTown Walk of Fame places him alongside other rugby legends such as renowned New Zealand coach Sir Gordon Tietjens, England 7s star Dan Norton, and Kenya 7s standout Collins Injera. Kolinisau’s recognition highlights his contributions to the global growth and success of rugby sevens.
