Reanne Evans’ bid for a record-extending 13th women’s UK Championship title victory will have to wait for another year after she lost 4-0 to defending world champion Bai Yulu in Leeds on Sunday. The Eurosport snooker analyst will get the chance to recover quickly when she meets fellow former world champion Mink Nutcharut on the opening day of the English Open in Brentwood on Thursday morning.
Reanne Evans has the chance to bounce back from losing to women’s world champion Bai Yulu in the UK Championship final on Sunday when she faces Mink Nutcharut in the first round of the English Open.
The 12-time UK champion Evans was bidding for a fifth straight UK title victory, but lost 4-0 to Bai at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds.
Bai’s victory means she becomes the first player to win the UK and world titles in the same season since Eurosport pundit Evans claimed the unique double in 2019.
The 21-year-old Bai reached the final with a 4-1 win over Mink in the last four that saw her produce breaks of 99 and 52, while record 12-time world champion Evans completed a 4-1 success against Rebecca Kenna in which she compiled 54 and 67.
Evans meets Mink at 9am UK time on Thursday morning on the opening day of qualifying for the English Open in Brentwood, with Bai facing Scotland’s Dean Young in her tournament opener at 4.30pm.
