The Detroit Lions made a few roster moves on Wednesday, signing Kyle Peko to the active roster and adding two players to the practice squad.
The Detroit Lions signed defensive tackle Chris Smith, who was cut off the active roster on Monday, to the practice squad and added veteran nose tackle Kyle Peko to the active roster on Wednesday. Additionally, the team verified the earlier rumored addition of kicker Greg Joseph to the practice squad.
The fact that Peko was promoted from the practice squad is not shocking. During the majority of training camp, Peko was the starting nose tackle for the Lions while DJ Reader was still on the PUP list. In Week 1, he was added to the gameday roster and participated in 47% of the defensive snaps that the Lions played against the Rams.
The Lions prefer to take their time when bringing back players from chronic ailments, even though DJ Reader is anticipated to play this week.
