Neil Robertson beat Chris Wakelin 6-1 to set up an English Open final against Wu Yize, who thrashed Ishpreet Singh Chadha 6-0.

The Australian knocked in a 92 break in the second frame to take a 2-0 lead before Wakelin pulled one back with an 82.

Robertson then reeled off the next four frames, which included break a 71, to secure victory in Brentwood, Essex.

“I felt ultra-focused, every shot full concentration, not allowing my mind to wander at all,” Robertson, who has won 23 ranking titles, told Eurosport.

“I’m really pleased to get to the final with really consistent all-round snooker.”

China’s Wu, 20, overcame Judd Trump in the quarter-finals and was a dominant winner against India’s Singh Chadha as he secured a place in his first ranking event final.

Singh Chadha had beaten Mark Selby 6-5 in the last eight but struggled for form in his maiden semi-final appearance and Wu took advantage.

“I’m feeling great now,” said Wu. “There was quite a bit of pressure in this match for me and this is a very good result.

“My opponent probably felt a lot of pressure and couldn’t perform to his usual level. It definitely took up a lot of his energy winning last night. I regularly practise with him and I think he’s a very good player.”

He added: “It would be a new beginning to win the title. Winning a title would bring a new sense of responsibility.”
