Done Deal: Walters and Hayze Align to Address the Broncos’ Backup Utility Position

Brisbane Broncos Set Their Sights on Canterbury’s Hayze Perham as Backup Utility to Elevate Team Depth!

The Brisbane Broncos are actively in search of a versatile backup utility player to provide support for star fullback Reece Walsh. One of the top targets on their radar is Canterbury Bulldogs utility player Hayze Perham, who can cover multiple positions in the backline, according to *The Daily Telegraph*.

With Tristan Sailor, who previously served as Walsh’s backup, set to depart for the Super League’s St Helens in 2025, the Broncos are keen to secure a capable replacement. Perham, currently off-contract, has attracted significant interest, with the Broncos eyeing him as a potential fit for their roster.

As the 2024 NRL season draws to a close, Perham has yet to confirm his future with the Bulldogs, making him a prime candidate for a move.

At 25 years old, Perham has played 35 NRL games with stints at the New Zealand Warriors, Parramatta Eels, and Canterbury Bulldogs. Known for his versatility, he has filled roles as a fullback, centre, and winger.

However, recent squad additions at Canterbury, including Connor Tracey, Stephen Crichton, and Bronson Xerri, have pushed Perham out of the regular rotation, relegating him to reserve grade.

The Broncos are in a strong position to bring Perham on board, particularly as they anticipate the need for reliable cover when Walsh is sidelined due to injury or representative commitments in the coming seasons.
