BREAKING: Trade News – The Milwaukee Bucks are Trading Middleton to the Lakers

The Milwaukee Bucks Will Trade Khris Middleton to the Los Angeles Lakers

The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 124-107 in their first preseason game. LeBron James and Anthony Davis sat out, but rookie Bronny James debuted, scoring two points and recording three blocks in 16 minutes. Austin Reaves and Dalton Knecht each scored 16 points to lead the Lakers.

Turnovers and rebounding issues hurt the Lakers, contributing to the loss. Coach JJ Redick highlighted areas for improvement but commended the team’s competitive spirit.

The Lakers have made no significant offseason moves, and Rob Pelinka emphasized that they will only use their draft assets if it helps acquire impact players for the 2024-25 season.

TRADE IDEA

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Khris Middleton

Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Gabe Vincent, Jalen-Hood Schifino, Rui Hachimua, 2029 First-Round Pick

Khris Middleton can bring balance to the Lakers’ offensive and defensive schemes when paired with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

As an elite scorer and reliable second or third option, Middleton showcased his talent during Milwaukee’s 2021 championship run, averaging 24.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in the Finals.

Despite last season’s injuries, his 38.1% shooting from three and ability to defend multiple positions make him an ideal complement to the Lakers’ stars. In clutch situations, Middleton’s smooth mid-range game can enhance James’ playmaking and Davis’ dominance in the paint, forming one of the most balanced trios in the NBA.

The Lakers have struggled with consistent perimeter shooting and a reliable third scorer, making Middleton a key addition. His high basketball IQ and veteran presence would ease the pressure on LeBron and Davis, particularly during critical moments. In a new role with the Lakers where James excels as a distributor and Davis attracts double teams Middleton could see his scoring efficiency return to his All-Star level.

Defensively, Middleton would strengthen the Lakers’ perimeter defense. Standing 6’7″, he can guard multiple positions, reducing LeBron’s defensive burden and helping the team match up better against top wing players in the Western Conferenced
