After suffering a horrific injury in Sunday’s victory over the Dallas Cowboys, defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was the subject of an unpleasant update from Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell. Early in the second half of the Lions’ 47-9 triumph, Hutchinson recorded a sack on quarterback Dak Prescott, but his left leg snapped around a teammate’s leg.

According to Campbell, his star defensive player was sent to a hospital in the Dallas metropolitan region after suffering a broken tibia.

The larger of the two lower leg bones that bears the majority of an individual’s weight is the tibia. Hutchinson had emergency surgery, according to Campbell, and will spend the night at the hospital “in good hands.” After the game, Campbell stated, “Obviously he’s going to be down for a little while.” That’s difficult, then. Every time someone like him passes away, it’s heartbreaking, but we’ll learn a lot more later, and we sincerely hope for his best.”  While he was still on the pitch, the 24-year-old was encircled by his teammates while trainers examined him more closely. He was surrounded by players from both teams as he was being moved to the medical cart. Before he was injured versus Dallas, he had three tackles, a sack, and three quarterback hits.

Hutchinson finishes the season tied for the lead in his team’s sack percentage (50%) and leads the NFL in sacks (7.5), quarterback hits (15), and quarterback pressures (42). After the game, quarterback Jared Goff talked with reporters about Hutchinson.  “He’s a guy that leads by example and is a vital component of this club. He does everything correctly. Goff remarked, “He’s everything you could ask for in a teammate and player. “To have him go down like that, visibly upset is tough for all of us.” On the pitch, running back David Montgomery discussed Hutchinson with FOX reporter Erin Andrews. “Aidan Hutchinson is unquestionably the lifeblood of our group… It’s going to get personal for us. He stated, “We want to do it for 97.”

Hutchinson’s injury sparked a lot of social media reactions as well.
