In order to contend for the playoffs, a number of teams, including the Cowboys, must make a deal by the deadline at the end of next month. But by the deadline, every indication coming out of Dallas points in their direction. Any changes we witness from the Cowboys will be small practice squad additions or back-of-the-end roster alterations. Defensive tackle Phil Hoskins was dismissed from the taxi squad by the Cowboys on Wednesday, and defensive lineman Jalen Dalton was added to the practice squad. The 27-year-old defensive end last competed for the Wade Phillips-coached San Antonio Brahmas in the UFL earlier this year. Dalton finished with two sacks and 12 total tackles.

He signed with the Seattle Sea Dragons (XFL) in Oct. 2023 before the league merged with the USFL. Before Dalton decided to play spring football, he spent time with multiple teams in the NFL.

The former NC State defender went undrafted following the 2019 NFL Draft and latched on with the Chicago Bears. Dalton didn’t stick around with the Bears, who waived him that summer. After the Bears, Dalton signed with the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and the Carolina Panthers.

During the 2022 season, the 27-year-old defensive lineman made seven appearances for Atlanta. Dalton participated in 31% of the defensive snaps, had 13 total tackles, and one tackle for loss. Dalton might play in Week 7 considering the Cowboys’ defensive line issues.
