Throughout the 2024 NFL season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been an exciting team to watch. With a 4-2 record going into Week 7, Pittsburgh is still competitive in the AFC North. Russell Wilson is expected to make his season debut this week in the Steelers’ quarterback competition. Not one former NFL quarterback thinks this is the best course of action. On First Take, Cam Newton had some scathing opinions on the dispute between Steelers quarterbacks Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. Newton doesn’t think Russell Wilson should start for the Steelers in lieu of Justin Fields right now.

Newton said, “I’m not saying anything other than what everyone is thinking. “We are aware that Russell Wilson in real life won’t act in the way we anticipate.” The idea that Russell Wilson will benefit the Steelers, especially given his performance in high-pressure scenarios, was met with a retort from Newton. But not like this, Newton answered. “Let’s review the New York Jets match. Weaknesses being exposed by Justin Fields, but alright, Russ, let’s get rock and roll. Not in this manner.

For Newton, it all boils down to victories and defeats in the end. Since Justin Fields has guided the Steelers to a winning record, he feels that he deserves a chance. It’s 4-2, I say,” Newton said in closing. Muhammad Ali ultimately had to play great defence in addition to knocking out opponents. You also need to be aware of the winning strategy that we must employ. Saying that “a win is a win” and implying that style points are meaningless in the NFL, Newton punctuated his remarks.
