BREAKING: 49ers Head Coach Confirms Key Player Hospitalized Due to Serious Health Condition

49ers Star Deebo Samuel Hospitalized with Severe Illness Amid Team’s Devastating Injury Woes

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been hospitalized due to a severe illness that head coach Kyle Shanahan described as “pneumonia-like” and involving fluid in his lungs. Shanahan made the announcement Monday, noting that there is currently no set timetable for Samuel’s return.

The illness escalated quickly. On Sunday, Samuel experienced difficulty breathing during the 49ers’ game against the Kansas City Chiefs, which led to his early exit. Unfortunately, his condition worsened after the game, prompting his hospitalization.

The news comes as a further blow to the 49ers, who are already dealing with significant injuries. In the same game against the Chiefs, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL and MCL, an injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the season. The loss of Aiyuk, combined with Samuel’s illness, leaves the 49ers’ offense with two major gaps at wide receiver.

In six games this season, Samuel has contributed 20 receptions for 335 yards and added 51 rushing yards. He has also scored two touchdowns—one receiving and one rushing. As the team adjusts to these setbacks, the focus remains on Samuel’s health and recovery as the 49ers navigate their injury-stricken roster.
