After benching Daniel Jones for backup Drew Lock late in the fourth quarter of the New York Giants’ 28-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Brian Daboll said after the game that he was hoping for a “spark” from the offence and that Lock would provide it. Jones responded that he did not like the move, but Daboll said Jones would start on Monday because he gives the team the best chance to win football games
First and foremost, I believe he provides us the best chance,” Daboll remarked. “I believed he did exactly what he needed to do in many of the plays, but look, there were other plays when it wasn’t just Daniel. It was an assortment of items. It was more than a single individual, a line of defence, or a path. In addition to their poor quarterback play, the Giants have suffered from a number of injuries, which has caused them to drop to 2-5. Malik Nabers missed several games following a concussion, and standout tackle Andrew Thomas will be sidelined for some time due to a foot issue. In Pittsburgh, they will try to turn their luck.
