Cowboys Make a Move for Star RB in Recent Mock Trade Proposal

With the November 5th trade deadline approaching, a proposed trade by The Athletic could be pivotal for the Cowboys.

Despite Jerry Jones’s denials, it’s clear that the Dallas Cowboys require reinforcements if they aim to compete this season. With a 3-3 record, they have underperformed on both sides of the ball. Currently, they sit at 31st in defense and 20th in offense.

A significant area of concern is the running game, as Dallas boasts one of the weakest RB groups in the NFL. They average a league-low 3.5 yards per carry and rank last in rushing yards and touchdowns.

Despite the front office’s optimistic outlook, fans and analysts are urging a trade to rectify this problem. The Athletic’s Mike Jones and Jeff Howe have suggested a deal that could address this need, proposing that Browns star Nick Chubb be traded to Dallas for a third-round and a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Dallas Cowboys RECEIVE: Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns RECEIVE: 2025 Third-Round Pick, 2025 Sixth-Round Pick

With the Cleveland Browns struggling at 1-6, they have already traded Amari Cooper and may look to offload any veterans with trade value. Chubb, 28, is in the final year of his contract, making him a prime candidate for trade.

“Chubb has the star power that team owner Jerry Jones desires. While there’s a risk involved given Chubb’s recent serious knee injury, the potential reward is significant if he finishes the season as a top-10 back.”

In his last healthy season, Chubb recorded 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns over 17 games, solidifying his status as one of the league’s elite running backs. Though he has recovered from a torn ACL, PCL, and MCL, even in a compromised state, the four-time Pro Bowler likely surpasses any current options on the Cowboys’ roster.
