There’s nothing more unsettling for Warriors fans than seeing Stephen Curry head to the locker room with an injury

In Sunday night’s home opener against the Los Angeles Clippers, fans witnessed just that. Curry hurt his ankle in the third quarter, attempted to stretch it out and rejoin in the fourth but quickly aggravated it while setting a screen on Clippers’ Nicolas Batum, leading him to limp back off the court.

The team labeled it a sprained ankle, and after the Clippers’ 112-104 victory, coach Steve Kerr shared that Curry considered the injury “mild” to “moderate.” Kerr added that an MRI scheduled for Monday would provide more clarity.

Curry finished the game with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. However, his absence in the fourth quarter highlighted the challenge ahead for Golden State, as they lacked their main shot creator. The Warriors cut the Clippers’ lead to three points but ultimately fell short, ending the game with a 112-104 loss.

Now 2-1 this season, the Warriors will host the New Orleans Pelicans for back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Pelicans are also dealing with injuries, missing Trey Murphy III and Dejounte Murray. Following these games, Golden State embarks on a five-game road trip.
