Tyrone Tracy Jr. is “trending in the right direction” in the concussion protocol and is a limited participant in practice, according to head coach Brian Daboll, who may start the New York Giants’ promising rookie running back in Week 9 against the Washington Commanders (via ESPN’s Jordan Raanan).
Tyrone Tracy might return for Sunday’s game against the Commanders for the Giants.
Tracy suffered a concussion and left Monday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He finished with a career-high 150 yards from scrimmage, which included 20 carries and 145 yards on the ground. Additionally, he scored the team’s only touchdown of the game with a 45-yard run early in the fourth quarter. In the end, the Giants would lose by a score of 26-18, failing to take victory.
Tracy’s availability for a crucial game against the Commanders, a fierce division foe, would be much appreciated by the Giants. The 2024 fifth-round pick Tracy has swiftly risen up the depth chart as one of their best backs, making him a revelation for them this season.
Recently, Tracy has been playing well for the Giants.
Three of the Giants’ last four games have seen Tracy record more than 100 yards from scrimmage, and his most recent performance against the Steelers was the greatest of his early career. Tracy has 113 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and 376 rushing yards this season. Throughout his college career, he shown exceptional versatility as a rusher and receiver. Tracy transferred to Purdue to become a full-time running back after starting out at Iowa as a wide receiver.
With a 2-6 record and three straight losses, the Giants’ chances of making the playoffs have drastically decreased. They are currently in last place in the NFC East division. New York’s slender hopes of winning the division would be severely hampered by a defeat, since the Commanders presently lead the division with a 6-2 record. Although Tracy’s ability to return on Sunday is still uncertain, the odds are rapidly in his favour because he has already resumed exercising with the team. On Sunday, the game begins at 1 PM EST.
