Kurt Busch was arrested late at night on August 13, 2024, in Iredell County for speeding in a 45 mph zone and driving under the influence.

Following his arrest, Busch expressed disappointment in himself and apologized to his family, his racing colleagues, and his fans, stating his intention to cooperate with authorities to improve safety in the area.

According to court documents, Deputy Zalepka noted that Busch had “red glassy eyes” and a significant smell of alcohol on his breath, and Busch admitted to drinking before getting behind the wheel.

After pleading guilty to the DWI, Busch received a 60-day suspended sentence and was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. He was also ordered to complete 24 hours of community service and pay a related fee. As part of the penalties, he lost his driver’s license and will need to apply for a temporary driving permit.

In reflecting on the events, Busch took full responsibility for his actions and expressed sincere regret. He mentioned that he completed a pre-trial assessment and adhered to recommendations before his court appearance. Busch is determined to make amends and aims to return to racing with renewed dedication.

According to TMZ, his plea resulted in a 60-day suspended jail sentence and a year of unsupervised probation after being arrested for speeding and testing with a BAC of 0.17.
