During the opening lap of the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday, Jack Miller, Brad Binder, and Fabio Quartararo were involved in a multi-rider crash at the second corner but thankfully emerged without serious injuries.
Miller’s condition raised concerns in the paddock, but he was able to walk back to his garage from the medical center just moments after the race was paused, although it was clear he wouldn’t be racing again that day following such a significant crash.
Binder attempted to return to the race despite feeling pain in his left shoulder but had to pull back into the pits when the discomfort became unbearable on his way to the grid.
Quartararo, on the other hand, came away from the crash with just a limp and managed to restart the race on his second Yamaha, finishing in sixth place. He was the only one of the three riders to address the media afterward, stating, “I didn’t even see what happened. It felt like someone hit me from the inside, and it turned out to be Jack’s head.”
He expressed relief upon seeing Miller in the paddock before the restart, remarking on the frightening nature of the crash. KTM team manager Francesco Guidotti reflected on the day’s events, noting, “It was tough to witness, but thankfully no one was seriously injured. Jack went to the medical center for a check on his foot but is okay. He has no pain anywhere.”
He continued, “Brad attempted to start again, but the pain in his shoulder made it unsafe for him and others. If he still feels pain tomorrow, he might need to have his shoulder examined.”
