Cowboys Could Land $80M WR to Partner With CeeDee Lamb By Max Dible, Athlon Sports
The Dallas Cowboys are struggling on offense, especially with the worst rushing performance in the NFL.
Ahead of the November 5 trade deadline, Dallas might look to strengthen this area with a more affordable trade option, like Carolina Panthers’ Chuba Hubbard. However, Dallas is also considering a blockbuster move involving wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
A few weeks ago, when the Los Angeles Rams were 1-4 and Kupp was on injured reserve (IR) with an ankle injury, they seemed more open to trading him. Since then, the Rams have bounced back and are just half a game behind other NFC West teams, all holding 4-4 records.
It’s hard to imagine the Rams giving up on the season now, especially with quarterback Matthew Stafford still performing in his age-36 season and the roster returning to health. However, Kupp could still be available for the right price, as Dallas owner Jerry Jones faces pressure after significant summer investments in Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.
On November 1, Heavy.com’s Jonathan Adams proposed a trade idea that would send Kupp to Dallas for a second-round pick.
“The case for the Cowboys making a move is Dallas needs more offensive firepower to go with Lamb,” Adams noted. “Dallas is in danger of missing the postseason and may need to outscore teams with the way the defense has played in 2024.”
Kupp’s $80 million contract keeps him signed through 2026—a high price, especially given his injury history and the potential cost of a second-round pick.
Still, Kupp led the NFL in 2021 with 145 catches, 1,947 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns, earning a First-Team All-Pro selection and a Super Bowl ring.
Joining Kupp with Lamb and Prescott would create a championship-level passing attack for Dallas, giving Jones and the Cowboys a core of elite offensive talent to build around for the future.
