Te’o And Barrett Begin As Broncos Assistant Coaches

The Brisbane Broncos have officially reinforced their coaching staff for the 2025 season as the well-credentialed Ben Te’o and Trent Barrett begin life at Red Hill as Assistants Coaches to Michael Maguire.

The duo hit the training paddock at Red Hill on Monday, and join highly respected, existing Assistant coach Matt Ballin, who returns from leave next week, following his recent wedding.

Te’o is a familiar face for Broncos fans playing nearly 100 games for the Broncos in a distinguished 174-game NRL career.

 

The 37 year old’s career highlights include winning a Premiership with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2014 alongside Adam Reynolds, where he was coached by Maguire.

Te’o impressed many last year when he coached the Redcliffe Dolphins to the Grand Final of the Hostplus Cup.

 

“It feels like home for me. Walking through the building, it just feels comfortable, Te’o said.

“Ten years ago, Madge and I got to do something special together as coach and player.

Now there’s an opportunity for us with our shared values to have a good year, this time around as Coach and Assistant.

Barrett brings over 300 games as a player in the NRL, Super League, World Cup, and State of Origin, as well as coaching stints with Manly, the Bulldogs and most recently Parramatta.

Barrett said: “It’s exciting to coach here. We want to win obviously. That’s the main goal, but we’ve got a fair bit of work to do in the meantime.

 

I want to make sure I can want to leave a good impression on the playing group, help them and make them better, that’s our job as coaches.
