The Dallas Cowboys are not completely out of contention yet, but they desperately need some reinforcements. With a record of 3-5, the team is significantly lacking key players, which was already a concern during their healthier moments.
The Cowboys have missed All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland for the entire season, and they lost DeMarcus Lawrence, Brandin Cooks, and most crucially, Micah Parsons after Week 4.
Rookie DE Marshawn Kneeland was lost in Week 5, and QB Dak Prescott is now sidelined with a serious hamstring injury.
While it may be challenging for the team to secure help from outside sources to turn things around, that doesn’t mean owners Jerry and Stephen Jones won’t explore trade options.
Acquiring a player with several years left on a contract, similar to their acquisition of WR Amari Cooper in 2018, could be a viable strategy, despite conventional wisdom suggesting otherwise. While this move was aimed at salvaging that season, Dallas did manage to benefit from a season and a half of Cooper before signing him to an additional two-year deal.
However, it seems more likely that Dallas will need to be sellers as the trade deadline approaches on Tuesday at 4 pm ET.
As trade rumors unfold or transactions take place, updates will be posted here.
