By signing defensive tackle Domenique Davis, the Steelers have already occupied one of their available practice squad spots. Alan Saunders of Steelers Now was the first to report on the transfer, which was announced via the NFL transaction wire. After graduating from UNC Pembroke in 2020, Davis signed with the New York Jets after going undrafted. He earned 41 total tackles, six tackles for loss, and three sacks during his last season of college in 2019. The Jets cut the 6’3, 315-pound defence after he claimed to have needed surgery after a failed physical prior to his first season. He played for the USFL’s Houston Gamblers in the spring of 2022.
In the summer of 2022, Davis rejoined the NFL by joining the Cincinnati Bengals. Since then, he has made two appearances for Cincinnati during the regular season, totalling three tackles. A piece about Davis’ NFL journey was written by Bengals.com. The release date of Davis was October 22. There is still a spot available on the Steelers’ practice squad.
