With Prescott heading to injured reserve, the team’s chances this season are diminishing rapidly. After suffering three consecutive losses, Prescott’s injury has been the final blow.

The Cowboys secured their last victory on October 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and a Steelers legend has weighed in on the situation. Future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger shared his insights regarding Prescott’s injury and its implications for the Cowboys on his podcast, “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger.”

Roethlisberger painted a grim picture for the remainder of the season, indicating that players might already be looking ahead to the offseason. He also hinted at deeper issues within the organization, suggesting that the team is underperforming compared to its potential.

“They’re packing their bags for the offseason. They’re done even without Dak for a few weeks,” Roethlisberger stated. “There’s something off within the organization, whether it’s the coaches, the owner, or something else. I won’t speculate, but this team is capable of better performance, in my view.”

He also critiqued the team’s offseason strategy, noting that the focus on securing large contracts for Prescott and star receiver CeeDee Lamb may have hindered the overall development of the roster.

“When you invest so much time and effort in just a couple of players, it limits the rest of the team’s ability to improve,” he remarked. “I don’t expect them to accomplish much for the rest of the year.”

Things are likely to get worse before they get better. The Cowboys are set to face the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10, a challenging matchup as the Eagles are favored to win.

With Cooper Rush taking over at quarterback and an injury-riddled defense, the Cowboys’ chances for success look slim.

So, Cowboys fans, prepare for a tough season ahead.
