Lawrence sidelined for several weeks in devastating new Rangers injury setback.

Rangers have been dealt a significant injury blow, as Tom Lawrence has been ruled out for a period of four to six weeks.

Philippe Clement confirmed the news during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Olympiacos game, sharing that Lawrence picked up the injury in the match against Motherwell on November 3.

The Gers are preparing for their clash with the Greek side in Piraeus but will have to do so without their key attacking midfielder, who was substituted after just 36 minutes in Rangers’ Scottish League Cup semi-final win at Hampden Park.

Clement stated: “Tom Lawrence hasn’t travelled, he got injured at the weekend and will be out for several weeks. He has been an important player for us, but it presents an opportunity for other players to step up.”

Rangers face challenge without Tom Lawrence

The news, also shared by Joshua Barrie on X (6 November), that Lawrence could be absent for up to six weeks is a heavy setback for Rangers.

The 30-year-old has contributed five goals or assists in just seven league starts this season, providing a bright spot in what has been a challenging campaign for the team, who are currently nine points behind the top two in the league.

It was initially reported that Lawrence had missed training on Wednesday morning (6 November) ahead of the Europa League match in Greece, and fans had hoped his absence would be brief.

However, it now appears that he will miss the entirety of November and potentially part of the run-up to Christmas, during which time Rangers have seven more games, including the visit of Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham to Ibrox on December 12.

The situation at Ibrox has been far from ideal this season, and now, with another injury hitting the squad, the Rangers faithful face another tough pill to swallow.
