Taylen Green Injury Update: Arkansas QB Leaves Ole Miss Game
What we know: Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green exited Saturday’s game against Ole Miss due to an apparent lower body injury.
In the first quarter of Saturday’s contest, Green briefly left the game after sustaining what appeared to be a lower body injury. However, he was able to return in the second quarter.
Green required assistance to stand after being tackled awkwardly following a 14-yard rush. He walked slowly to the sideline for further assessment.
Initially, the injury seemed more concerning, as Green had his left leg pinned underneath an Ole Miss defender during the tackle, which caused it to twist. He did not return to the game immediately after the injury.
On the sidelines, Green was observed trying to test his leg by jogging, though he appeared to still be limping. Trainers later evaluated him further.
When ESPN sideline reporter Quint Kessenich was asked for an update, he bluntly described the situation as “not very good” after observing Green’s movements during his attempts to jog.
At the time of Green’s injury, Arkansas was trailing Ole Miss 7-0 with 5:28 left in the first quarter. Green had completed 2 of 3 passes for 38 yards and had rushed 4 times for 23 yards.
Following the injury, Arkansas managed to narrow the score to 7-3 with a 55-yard field goal by Matthew Shipley, but Ole Miss soon extended its lead to 14-3 when Jaxson Dart connected with Dae’Quan Wright for a touchdown.
Malachi Singleton replaced Green at quarterback but struggled to move the ball downfield, resulting in a punt.
Singleton had previously played a key role in Arkansas’s win over then-No. 4 Tennessee on October 5, scoring the go-ahead touchdown when Green was also sidelined with an injury.
This season, the freshman quarterback has completed 71.4% of his passes, going 10 of 14 for 151 yards, with the bulk of that production coming in the season opener against Pine Bluff.
