Fiji suffers a record loss in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings.
Following their historic 57-17 loss to hosts Scotland in the first match of the Autumn Nations Series, Fiji has fallen below Australia and into 10th place in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings.
In ten test matches against Scotland, Darcy Graham scored four tries to celebrate his comeback to the international scene, and it was the worst loss margin and the most points Fiji has given up.
Scotland, who are still in seventh place with less than a point separating them and Argentina, won by 0.58 points, their first at Murrayfield since they won the Calcutta Cup.
The loss of 0.58 points in exchange was enough for Fiji’s rating to dip below Australia’s and their new total of 79.07 puts them in 10th.
Meanwhile, New Zealand gained 0.97 points for their 24-22 win over England at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, in the first match of this year’s Autumn Nations Series.
The All Blacks are still third but with an improved rating of 89.67 points, while England keep hold of fifth place but with a reduced rating of 84.43 points.
Having narrowly failed to reach a record high of 31st last weekend, Sweden made sure this time around with a 46-19 win away to Lithuania in the Rugby Europe Men’s Trophy 2024-25 taking them above Germany.
The only other match that had an impact on the rankings was Belgium’s 48-7 victory over Switzerland, which made the Swiss realize how much higher they would need to go when they play in the Rugby Europe Championship for the first time the following year.
Due to the victory, Switzerland fell two spots to 28th place, while Belgium rose three spots to 27th. Since Estonia is not a full member of World Rugby, Latvia’s 62-0 victory over them at home in the Rugby Europe Men’s Conference 2024–25 did not count toward the rankings.
