BREAKING: Former NRL Star Charged over Drugs, Suspected Stolen Cash

Former NRL Star James Roberts Faces Drug Charges and Cash Allegations After Police Stop

Former NRL and State of Origin standout James Roberts faces legal troubles once again, as he has been charged with possession of drugs and suspicion of possessing illegally obtained cash following a police stop in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The 31-year-old, known for his career spanning over 160 NRL games across five different clubs, allegedly committed these offences during an incident in late July. The charges, which include possession of marijuana and possession of unlawfully obtained goods amounting to $1400 in cash, were officially laid out recently after necessary substance testing delays.

Reports indicate that police stopped Roberts’ vehicle at Matraville in a routine roadside check, where suspicions arose and subsequently led to a search. Although the former NRL star was not present in court during the initial proceedings, he has been issued court attendance notices.

The case has been adjourned until December 18, when it will be revisited at Waverley Local Court.

This recent legal issue follows Roberts’ previous guilty plea to domestic violence charges earlier this year, marking a turbulent period for the once-prominent rugby league figure.

With his career on hiatus and legal matters pending, James Roberts continues to navigate significant challenges both on and off the field.
