Pittsburgh — After their bye week, the Pittsburgh Steelers are still getting healthier. Running back Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle), quarterback Justin Fields (hamstring), and centre Zach Frazier (ankle) were all active for the second day in a row. It appears that all three will play the Washington Commanders. Although they are still on injured reserve, linebacker Tyler Matakevich (hamstring) and wide receiver Ben Skowronek (shoulder) participated fully for the second day in a row. It was possible to activate both players and have them return to fight the Commanders. The Steelers will need to free up two roster spots if they do.
As he attempts to recover from a hamstring injury, outside linebacker Nick Herbig was sidelined for the second day in a row. Herbig was hopeful that he would return against the Commanders, but Friday will be the day when he decides whether or not to play. Terrell Edmunds, a safety, missed his second consecutive game due to illness. MyCole Pruitt, a tight end, did not practise after suffering a knee injury. Cam Heyward, a veteran defensive lineman, was placed on rest and did not practise.
